Vedic Meditation
with David Giles
David Giles MA (Oxon), BFA
David has been practising Vedic Meditation since 1997. He was taught by one of the world’s foremost experts
in Vedic Meditation and the study of consciousness, Dr Thom Knoles.
David was then chosen by Dr Knoles to be trained as a teacher and acted as a meditation guide for a number
of years before beginning a formal course of study that involved over 80 hours of lectures in the wisdom of
the Veda (the ancient body of knowledge that describes yoga, ayurveda and meditation). With this course
completed, David went to the mountains of Flagstaff, Arizona for the most intensive training over three months
and, again under the direct tutelage of Dr Knoles, completed the training to teach Vedic Meditation.
Previously, David worked for over twenty years in film and television, as a writer and producer of feature films
and TV series. He also ran acting workshops across Australia and Canada, in Singapore and in England.
David was very lucky to receive his education at the world famous Westminster School in London, and then
achieved an MA from Oriel College at the University of Oxford and a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Concordia
University in Montreal. Whenever his teaching schedule permits, he continues to write & direct films and coach
actors, giving lectures on writing and acting at schools and universities around the world.

“Qualifying as a Vedic Meditation teacher was the most demanding
experience of my whole education - and I’d do it again in a
heartbeat! Teaching meditation, passing on this practical, reliable
and wonderfully simple technique is the greatest privilege. The fact
that the students benefit so much - well, as teachers we are so lucky
to witness people freeing themselves from the binding effects of
stress, and rediscovering what it is to be themselves again: less
reactive and more responsive; calmer yet more alert; often still busy,
but peaceful on the inside. It really is a wonderful thing to see.”
David Giles
Whilst David is not a member of any organisation associated with meditation, he is very happy to recommend other teachers of Vedic Meditation in Australia and around the world who have been trained to the same standard and offer the same teaching.
